TIME PORTAL DISCOVERED IN RURAL SHROPSHIRE.
Yes, it's absolutely true! In a beautiful but relatively unknown
corner of England there is a gateway back into the 17th Century,
courtesy of Lord and Lady Teksnes and Old Colehurst Manor.

Old Colehurst Manor is a 17th century timber framed manor
house, set in the Shropshire countryside, which Bjorn and Maria
share with their daughter Juliet and some of the more "long term"
occupants, such as Fred, the benign presence with whose
assistance this house has been lovingly brought back to life.

Twenty years ago Old Colehurst Manor was a derelict wreck.
Suffering from the ravages of time and "modernisation". It was
then that Bjorn and Maria discovered it languishing in its sorry
state and breathed a new life into this grand old house.

The reality was, that rather than modernise and destroy a
unique piece of our architectural heritage, they set about
"regressing" it.

They decided to restore Old Colehurst Manor to its former glory
by rebuilding it in its original form, using all the original
techniques of timber framed building, such a pegged oak beams,
wattle and daub infills and stone flagged roofs.

After years of painstaking reconstruction the house is a shining
testament of dedication and determination, and a magnificent
living example of the English country house of the 17th century.
Now Bjorn and Maria share Old Colehurst Manor with just more
than Fred and the Lady in the Red Room.

Their house offers a welcome to those who would like to step
through the Gateway and leave the 21st century behind for a
while. From the moment you set foot into the delightful and
fragrant rose garden you are transported to another era, where
good food and good company mean a lot and the passage of
time means little.

Lady Maria is an expert in Old English cuisine and will delight
your palate with authentic and delicious recipes from the days
before microwaves, deep freezes (and diets!). There can be
few greater pleasures than sitting around a huge oak table in
the Great Hall with a fire blazing in the grate, dining on such
delights as home smoked salmon, roast venison and sylabubs,
whilst the candles burn lower and the tales of days gone by get
taller.

Afterwards taking a moonlight stroll through the heady scents of the rose garden, before
ascending the gently creaking stairs to one of the five beautifully furnished bedrooms
(preferably your own) where a magnificent four poster bed welcome you into feathery
slumbers.
There must be many people who have
visited old houses and stately homes
and gazed from behind ropes and "Do
Not Touch" notices, wondering what
it would be like to live in such a place.
Well, Old Colehurst Manor is where
you will find out. Exchanging 21st
century clothes for elegant gowns
and dashing waistcoats and watches
for sundials and candles, is just part of
this unique experience. So when the
time comes to tear yourself away from
Old Colehurst Manor and another
age and back to the 21st century you
will pause for a while, look back and
wonder "Did that really happen or
was I just dreaming?"
